Dancing for an HBCU danceline is a prestigious opportunity! For over 50 years, almost 50 HBCU dance programs have taken to the football field each season to help bring fans to the games and put smiles on their faces. They have gathered on campuses across the country; garnering devoted fans who come out to see who has the newest moves, most creative costumes, and the FIERCEST members! Each team encompasses beauty, brains, talent, and a certain skill level that oozes from each dance move. They are the face of our beloved HBCUs bands and bring the crowds in droves. There is nothing else like it in the world.

With thousands of dancers vying for a spot on their favorite team each year, a chance to dance in front of the BADDEST BANDS in the land is a coveted position many dancers dream of. With each HBCU team having their own unique style, it’s hard to choose just one favorite when audition season begins. It is even more difficult for dancers to connect with each coach and team to assist in finding the right fit. That’s why ON THE 50 is dedicated to bridging the gap between dancers and HBCU dance teams and coaches while continuing to celebrate the unique culture and legacy of HBCUs and HBCU dance.
Our events offer more than a space for dancers to showcase their talents. On the 50 creates spaces that facilitate relationships between dancers and HBCU collegiate coaches, such as the HBCU Danceline Combine where we focus on college recruitment, one-on-one evaluations, scholarships, networking, and career readiness; the Danceline competition series which focuses on providing a healthy space for competition, training and education, career readiness, building confidence, nurturing positive attitudes, and inspiring CREATVITY year-round. Creating a one-stop-shop for dancers to network, celebrate, and empower the HBCU culture.
